Just the Wick - Coated

1) See the wick set up matrix for number of wicks to use. 2) Fill an empty wine bottle, vase, or jar full of water. 3) Place the wick so that the center of the wick is at the top of the bottle. 4) Dig down near the roots and place the wick down into the soil. The wick needs to be touching or almost touching the roots. 5) For best results, extend the wick to be touching as many roots as possible. 6) Plant the wick into the soil, and press the soil down, firmly on top of the wick. 7) Additional tips: Treat the water in the bottle like the gas in your car- if you wait until empty it is too late! For best results, refill when the bottle is half full. For best results, use with a moisture control potting soil.

Depending on pot size, soil type, and temperature, it can keep plants hydrated for up to 4 weeks on average.

Roughly 30 mm of vertical water movement per hour (depending on humidity, soil density, and wick length).

Can it work with planters without drainage holes?

Yes.

How do I clean or reuse it?

Rinse in warm water and soak in a 1:4 vinegar-to-water solution to remove dirt and algae. Let dry before reusing.

Does it grow mold or algae?

To prevent buildup, clean your wine bottle or vase and rinse the wick occasionally.

Will it overwater my plants?

No. The wick provides slow, steady moisture — it stops drawing water when the soil is saturated.

Can I use this on vacation?

Yes! It’s perfect for vacation watering, keeping plants hydrated while you’re away for an average of four weeks.
